Marking two decades with one company is a rare and remarkable accomplishment. For Kelly Wilson, Vice President of Development in Ontario, reaching this 20-year milestone highlights a career defined by innovation, leadership and dedication.
Reflecting on what has kept him energized, Kelly described the variety and complexity of the projects he’s worked on: “Every project is like an enormous brain teaser puzzle with its own unique challenges, constraints and opportunities.” Kelly continues, “Working with my colleagues to create innovative building and suite designs that unlock a development site’s true potential is incredibly engaging. When the project is complete, we share a collective sense of accomplishment and pride in delivering beautiful homes and livable communities.”
While Kelly thrives on the challenges of development, he credits Concert Properties’ people-first philosophy and culture as central to his long tenure. “I feel blessed to work for an organization that treats its employees, customers and partners with honesty, integrity and respect,” he says. “It’s liberating to know that doing the right thing is truly the right thing to do.”
His leadership style, defined by positivity, compassion and humour, has left a lasting impression on his colleagues. “We believe in treating each other with courtesy, kindness and respect. Like family, we are here to support each other,” Kelly says. “I try to lead with positivity and levity, and I enjoy that we can share lots of laughs along the way.”
Craig Watters, Chief Development Officer, emphasized Kelly’s contributions: “Kelly’s positive energy, genuine care for others and passion for community building have shaped the culture of our Toronto office since its infancy. His dedication to excellence and collaboration has been instrumental in to our success.”
Beyond his professional accomplishments, Kelly is deeply passionate about giving back. From Habitat for Humanity builds and cooking meals at Scott Mission, to sleeping outside in support of Covenant House and participating in Youth Without Shelter’s annual Youth Engagement Day, Kelly finds fulfillment in philanthropy. “The ability to directly engage with those in need and brighten their day is both humbling and fulfilling,” he reflects, crediting his parents for instilling values of citizenship, humility and integrity.
Outside of work, Kelly enjoys woodworking, particularly carving and turning pieces on the lathe. “My last big project was a four-post cannonball bed with a loon carved into the headboard for my in-laws’ cottage,” he says. Looking ahead to the winter holidays, he plans to return to his workshop and take on new projects.
Kelly’s contributions have left a lasting legacy. As Craig Watters sums up: “Thank you, Kelly, for your unwavering dedication and commitment to Concert Properties, our purpose, and most importantly, our people. It has been an absolute pleasure working with you, and we look forward to many more successful years together.”
