What does a career in real estate really look like? For more than 35 Queen’s University students, the answer became clearer on March 21, 2025, during a visit to two of Concert Properties’ downtown Toronto buildings—part of the annual Day on Bay experiential learning trip.
Organized by the Queen’s University Real Estate Investment Association (QRIA)—a student-led club that connects students with industry professionals—Day on Bay offers firsthand exposure to the commercial real estate world. During the club’s flagship event, students meet with major real estate firms, tour high-profile assets and engage in candid Q&A sessions to better understand how the industry works from the inside out.
At Concert Properties, students were welcomed by Zachary Leranbaum, Director of Investments, and Adrian Kozak, Senior Vice President of Investments, who led a guided tour of our developments in the heart of Toronto’s Financial District: 20 Wellington Street and 88Scott.
The group explored the buildings, heard behind-the-scenes stories and discussed the complexities of brokering, asset management and investment. From shared facility agreements to rooftop amenities, the tour emphasized how cross-disciplinary collaboration drives every stage of a successful project.
The visit was coordinated by Leranbaum, a Queen’s Commerce alumnus and co-chair of NAIOP’s Student Outreach committee—part of a national industry association that connects post-secondary students with real estate professionals.
“As a former Queen’s student, I know how valuable these kinds of hands-on experiences can be,” says Leranbaum. “We wanted to show students what it’s really like to work in this industry—the pace, the collaboration and the level of thinking it takes to bring a project to life. It was inspiring to connect with these future leaders and a pleasure to show them what we do, day in and day out.”
Queen’s student, Sydney Malone, reflected on what stood out most during Day on Bay. “A highlight of the experience was the fascinating asset tour with Concert Properties,” says Malone. “It gave me a comprehensive view of the real estate development process and helped me better understand how projects evolve from concept to completion.”
For our team at Concert Properties, the experience was equally meaningful.
“These kinds of visits offer a chance to step outside our everyday work and share the bigger picture,” says Kozak. “It’s rewarding to see students make the connection between what they’ve learned in class and what it looks like in practice. Supporting the next generation—whether through funding educational scholarships or offering hands-on learning experiences like this—has always been a priority for the company that we take great pride in.”
Opportunities like Day on Bay bridge the gap between theory and practice while connecting today’s professionals with tomorrow’s leaders—and based on the energy and insight shared, the future looks bright.
