Concert is proud to announce that Andrew Tong has been promoted to the newly created role of Chief Investment Officer (CIO) for Concert Real Estate Corporation and Concert Properties Ltd.
In addition to his responsibilities as the Managing Director of the CREC Commercial Fund LP, which he retains, Andrew will provide strategic leadership and oversight for a broad range of key operational activities including acquisitions, asset and portfolio management, long-term financing and value creation, and also property management and residential and commercial leasing for all of Concert’s income producing property activity.
In 1994, Andrew joined Concert as Sales & Marketing Coordinator. In 1997, he was a key player in Concert’s strategic move to diversify into the office and industrial market, as well as expanding the portfolio nationally. Over the years, Andrew has taken on various roles in Acquisitions, Development and Asset Management for commercial and residential properties.
“Concert is an exceptional place where you are always learning and being challenged to grow,” says Andrew Tong. “For 27 years I have been fortunate to be surrounded by outstanding, high caliber and high integrity team members and mentors - both within Concert and with those with whom we do business. It has been my privilege to work on best-in-class projects and innovative transactions that drive value and returns for the pension funds and institutional investors who entrust us with their hard-working capital. It has been an incredible journey.”
Andrew was principally involved in 2016 with the creation and equity raising of the CREC Commercial Fund LP (“Fund”), Concert’s exclusive open-ended fund focused on building value and growing the industrial and office portfolio across Canada. Since its inception, Andrew has served as the Managing Director of the Fund and has led a talented team, growing the portfolio to 72 properties, over 11 million sq. ft. and more than $2.2 billion in asset value.
“During his time at Concert, Andrew has taken on increasingly challenging roles and responsibilities – always rising to the occasion,” says Brian McCauley, Concert’s President and CEO. “Andrew’s critical and strategic thinking will be necessary as we continue to grow and enhance Concert’s income-producing assets."
The establishment of the CIO role at Concert is a milestone for both Andrew and the company as it reflects the continuing growth and comprehensive approach to investment management within Concert.
