News of The North Shore Spirit Trail’s expansion is terrific news for Concert’s mixed-use Harbourside development in light of the City of North Vancouver Council’s third reading approval of the zoning last month.
The City of North Vancouver and Squamish Nation have recently signed an agreement to add a critical link to the North Shore Spirit Trail. The new section of trail would establish a key connection between Bewicke Avenue and the existing Squamish Nation Waterfront Greenway. With this addition, set to begin construction in 2015, Harbourside would be directly connected to Lonsdale Quay. Because Lonsdale Quay is North Vancouver’s major transportation hub, a connected trail will encourage commuters to take transit with the knowledge that they can ultimately either walk or bike to Harbourside. In fact, this link will make Harbourside a ten minute waterfront walk from the Lonsdale Quay.
The long-term vision for the North Shore Spirit Trail is for it to become a waterfront-oriented, multi-use and fully-accessible greenway that will provide pedestrians, cyclists and people with wheeled mobility aids access across the North Shore, from Horseshoe Bay to Deep Cove.
