The Concert development teams in both Vancouver and Toronto are hard at work planning four master-planned communities – together they represent 10-15 years of work for the company.
At Quebec Street and First Avenue in Southeast False Creek, Concert is working on one of the last residential projects on Vancouver’s waterfront. This entirely residential community would entail five buildings, including a significant affordable rental housing component which would be owned by the City. Public amenity enhancements would include a sizable public park as well as bike paths and walk ways. A rezoning application for this community has now been submitted, and a public consultation process will follow.
Located on 12 acres in North Vancouver, Concert envisions Harbourside as a vibrant, pedestrian-oriented, and sustainable community where people can live, work, shop and play. The existing business park would be enhanced by adding a mix of uses while at the same time making dramatic improvements to the City of North Vancouver’s only pedestrian-accessible waterfront. After a successful July 2012 application to amend the City of North Vancouver’s Official Community Plan (OCP) to allow residential development on the site, the rezoning application process has been ongoing. After rezoning, a community-lead process will guide programming of both the original and newly-dedicated park space.
In Coquitlam, we are currently in the initial stages of planning for the redevelopment of our eight-acre site located just blocks from a coming Evergreen Line SkyTrain station. This entirely residential master-planned community will align with the City of Coquitlam’s Transit-Oriented Development Strategy which encourages higher-density, transit-oriented development around Evergreen Line stations.
This summer, Concert acquired land for a multi-phase community in Etobicoke. Located on the western edge of the Etobicoke city centre on Dundas Street between Kipling and Shaver Avenue, this development site is within proximity to Concert’s completed Village Gate West master-planned community. The site will accommodate over 1.1 million square feet of primarily residential space and benefit from quick access to both transit and major highways.
Having already demonstrated the ability to create transformative and innovative master-planned communities both in Toronto and Vancouver, each of these upcoming communities will build upon the company’s award-winning reputation.
