January 24, 2020, VANCOUVER, BC – TELUS World of Science will debut its newest exhibition for the public today, Towers of Tomorrow with LEGO® Bricks presented by Concert Properties and White Spot Restaurants, with transit sponsor TransLink.
This captivating exhibition features astonishing skyscrapers from around the world, constructed in breathtaking architectural detail and accuracy by Australia’s Ryan McNaught, certified LEGO® Professional. With over 200,000 loose LEGO® bricks available in hands-on construction areas, you will be inspired to create your own "Towers of Tomorrow.”
The exhibition will also host an interactive Community Building exhibit envisioned by Concert and Science World using a LEGO® model of the False Creek neighbourhood, home to Concert’s master-planned community The Creek. This exhibition will facilitate creative thinking about the components that create thriving communities through thoughtful urban and neighbourhood design – a key priority for Concert.
Visitors will consider their own neighbourhoods, questioning how the physical features of great communities are designed, how people are connected, their hopes for future generations, and how we can envision and create thriving communities together. Guests may discover that there are many factors that contribute to how livable cities are created, and the role real estate developers like Concert play in making urban areas functional, diverse, attractive and sustainable.
“Concert is proud to work closely with the neighbourhoods and municipalities we develop within to discover how each neighbourhood can best grow and change,” says Craig Watters, Senior Vice President, Development. “Concert’s master-plan community of five buildings adjacent to Science World known as The Creek underwent a comprehensive planning and approvals process that has spanned seven years from establishing the vision for the community through to individual building approvals.”
In addition to meaningful public engagement, other principles for envisioning and creating the “communities of tomorrow” include a diverse mix of housing types through thoughtful urban design and placemaking, a holistic approach to environmental, social and economic sustainability and the mindful use of emerging technologies.
These themes can be seen throughout the interactive gallery, encouraging attendees to explore how they can contribute to Vancouver as a thriving community while engaging in science, technology, engineering, art and design, math and collaborative learning overall.
