Concert and Jawl Properties are proud to have been selected by the Province of British Columbia as the successful bidder on a six-acre property in Victoria’s James Bay. As part of a co-venture, the two companies are partnering to revitalize nearly an entire city block that will integrate office, residential and retail.
The office component of the phased mixed-use development will be built to LEED Platinum in order to ensure the highest standards of environmental sustainability are met. Given the site’s location adjacent to the British Columbia Legislature, the Province has committed to leasing 180,000 square feet of the office space over a 20-year term.
“We are excited to be partnering with Jawl on this opportunity to realize the long-term vision for the build-out of this key block in James Bay,” said Brian McCauley, Concert’s President and Chief Operating Officer. “Drawing upon our combined development experience in Victoria, we are committed to creating something truly special.”
Since 2006, Concert has successfully completed four condominium developments in Victoria. Furthermore, renovations are nearly complete on the company’s first rental conversion property in Victoria; The Q Apartments will occupy the building once known as the Queen Victoria Hotel. These developments have earned Concert three CARE Awards from the Canadian Homebuilders’ Association of Victoria for Best Customer Service.
