Concert and Jawl Properties are pleased to have been awarded the Best Heritage Project at the Victoria Residential Builders Association 2017 Construction Achievements and Renovations of Excellence (CARE) Awards on Friday, September 29, 2017.
“The skilled craftsmanship that went into these heritage homes deserves to be preserved and made beautiful again,” said Concert President and CEO Brian McCauley. “It’s an honor to be recognized for the care and attention that went into this project.”
The Capital Park Heritage Homes project, in partnership with Jawl Properties, rehabilitated three heritage homes into 13 fully-renovated rental suites in the historic James Bay neighbourhood. These Queen Anne Revival-style homes were constructed in the late 1800’s.
Original architectural details have all been preserved, from the multi-gabled rooflines and projecting entrances, to the extensive carpenters’ ornamentation including scroll cut brackets, lathe-turned columns, fish scale shingles, and decorative pediments.
The fully-updated interiors reflect the character of these historic homes and the attention to detail Concert and Jawl Properties have put into this rehabilitation project. Vaulted ceilings, shaker-style cabinetry, octagon and herringbone tiling, and heritage-inspired hardware and lighting complement the original design elements of these homes.
The Capital Park Heritage Homes are located within Capital Park, a mixed-use community of nearly six acres including office, retail, and residences, steps from Victoria’s Inner Harbour.
