Concert is proud to be a signatory to the recent “Call for Action on Energy and Climate in the Building Sector” that was developed by the Pembina Institute with the Royal Architectural Institute of Canada and the Urban Development Institute Pacific Region. This initiative was spurred by the fact that the government of British Columbia is currently gearing up to release its updated draft Climate Leadership Plan.
This call to action encourages the Province to adopt bold, long-term measures surrounding clean energy and climate change protection. It details potential required targets for new buildings and suggests how the Province could go about implementing these targets. To date there have been 146 signatories that include the City of Vancouver. Click here to read the entire call for action.
Sustainability has played an integral role in Concert’s developments since the company was founded 26 years ago. The three pillars of sustainability – economic, environmental and social – are echoed in Concert’s core values of building strong and vibrant communities for the long term through honesty, integrity and superior customer service. Today, the company remains committed to making economic, environmental and social sustainability an integral part of every consideration, decision and action. This has included achieving gold or equivalent sustainability ratings on each and every one of our new properties through programs such as LEED, Toronto Green Standard and the University of British Columbia’s REAP program. Similarly, on existing properties Concert owns and manages, our Property Management team has been active in implementing changes and initiating programs aimed at improving the performance of these assets by reducing their impact on the environment.
