Tapestry, a division of Concert, operates three active aging communities that offer residents unlimited opportunities to maintain active and healthy lifestyles, and to improve their physical, mental and social well-being.
All Tapestry communities are wellness-centred and committed to creating an environment where independent individuals can enjoy healthy and fulfilled lives. This commitment was recently recognized when Tapestry at Wesbrook Village in Vancouver was awarded the 2019 International Council on Active Aging (ICAA) NuStep Beacon Award, which recognizes and honours the Top 25 ‘Best in Wellness’ senior living communities in North America.
“Our commitment to wellness and supporting active aging is what distinguishes Tapestry communities,” says Mark Andrew, Senior Vice President, Tapestry. “With our holistic focus on the seven dimensions of wellness, Tapestry is pushing the boundaries of what it means to live independently in thriving, connected communities where our residents can live their best life possible. We are especially proud of Wesbrook Village, which has been recognized for its exceptional efforts and ongoing commitment to ensure wellness underpins all of our programs and services.”
Another example of Tapestry’s award-winning approach to creating thriving communities for independent adults is reflected in its decision to become an official host site of ‘Active Aging Week’ which ran October 1-7, 2019. Initiated by the ICAA, this annual event celebrates active aging at any age and showcases the capabilities of older adults as fully participating members of society.
Tapestry recognized Active Aging Week by offering residents the opportunity to participate in many interesting and unique wellness-centred life experiences, including the CN Tower EdgeWalk which overlooks the City of Toronto (at a height of more than 365 metres). Several Tapestry at Village Gate West residents excitedly signed up for the 30-minute event, walking on a ledge encircling the top of the CN Tower, which tested nerves, physicality and most importantly, demonstrated that age is only a number.
As a reflection of Tapestry’s ongoing commitment to active aging, all Tapestry communities develop and offer daily programs that reflect the seven dimensions of wellness, including physical, emotional, intellectual, social, spiritual, environmental and occupational.
